Out of this world

On monday 5th february I've met Gaja who is an aspiring model. Besides that, can we just acknowledge that this name is just so awesome and sophisticated? Gaja strongly reminds me of the greek goddess Gaia - spelled similarly but still differently - who is the personification of Earth. 

I suppose the photo you see on your right was kind of inspired by Gaia and Gaja - see what I did there :D. The shots I got with Gaja at the botanical garden in Zurich feel like magic, like something out of this world.

Fortunately, botanical gardens offer a warm space on cold winter days like these. That's probably why you'll see much more photos on my instagram feed taken in botanical gardens - at least in winter. Plus, the colours of the plants are really interesting, mainly because you won't find some of them anywhere in nature around here in Switzerland.

At the time when I got to edit the pictures, I didn't have a particular idea on how I'd edit them. However recently, I start off by lowering the brightness and contrast. Then, I'd adjust the colours so that the greens fall more into the yellowish spectrum and the yellow more into the orange spectrum. I really like how the turquoise colour of the sweater and the blond red hair create this vibrant look in the photo. Lastly, I'd add some highlights with the brush tool in Lightroom and the photo is done!
